Listen closely. Do you hear it? The dog is barking in the village. Be careful. Look, sharpen your vision, maybe you'll see how the moth flutters its delicate wings, and the leaf bends softly under the spider. Could it be Mamuna? Maybe Siubiela is creeping into the house? A son was born there. There are rumors that strange things are happening in the nearby village. Do you know where this is?

"Son" is based on "Swapped Son" by Mirosław Miniszewski. Both the story itself and the form of the performance are strongly rooted in Polish folk tradition. It might seem that the play simply tells a folk myth about switching children by witches, rewritten in modern language. However, it touches on the still current topic of exclusion, social alienation, lack of acceptance and difficult family relationships.

There are three actors and a table on stage, around which - using both precisely made and animated dolls and simple, even vulgar objects - the story of an extraordinary boy born "in the village next door" is told.

The show will also feature three adult characters played by strange, large dolls with signs of physical disabilities. Mr. Henryk, Mrs. Elżbieta and Mr. Krzysztof - witnesses of the story from the next village.

The performance was realized as part of the Scholarship of the Mayor of Białystok and with the support of the Białystok Puppet Theatre.
